Janet Lawson, DVM, MPVM
Janet Lawson was born in Northern California and grew up all over the U.S. After obtaining a zoology degree, she spent two years in the Peace Corps working in agricultural development in West Africa. Upon returning to the U.S., she earned her Master's degree in reproductive physiology from Texas A&M University, with a focus on goat reproduction. She earned her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and a Master's of Preventive Veterinary Medicine (epidemiology) from the University of California at Davis in 1987. Currently, Janet also works part time as a real estate broker for Cashin Company Realtors, Woodside, CA.
Alan Burr, DVM, MPVM
Alan A. Burr was born in Santa Barbara, California, and grew up on the coast of San Luis Obispo County. After attending the University of California at Davis and the California Polytechnic Institute, he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in biology/veterinary science. Alan spent a year in New Zealand and Australia, gaining experience on sheep ranches, dairy farms, and horse racing stables. After spending a summer tagging salmon in Alaska, he attended the University of California at Davis where he earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Master's in Preventive Medicine (public health). Dr. Burr now works as a Veterinary Medical Officer for California State Department of Food and Agriculture.
Laura Duffy, VT started working as a vet tech 20 years ago with the SPCA. She has worked at several animal hospitals over the years, and currently works at Coastside Veterinary Clinic part-time and is a surgical technician with Veterinary Surgical Associates, a specialty surgical practice in San Mateo, CA. Laura lives in La Honda with her Siamese cats and 2 dogs.
Jennifer Clark worked for a pet-care service in San Francisco and as a volunteer with the San Francisco Children's Zoo, Palo Alto Wildlife Rescue, and Fitzgerald Marine Reserve in Moss Beach. Her pet guinea pigs, hermit crabs, and bearded dragon keep her busy when she is not here at the clinic.
Debbie Lowry is now the newest member of our team and will add to her bio when she isn't working so hard keeping our practice running smoothly. She has two rescue poodles, Tinker and Belle and a cat named Flint.
Caroline Cook has worked as a veterinary assistant in San Jose and Cupertino before moving to the coast in 1999. She's recently returned to veterinary work after being a stay-at-home mom. She enjoys hiking with her German Shorthair Pointer, Rudi, and her Pug, Luna.
Penelope Gunning is a Registered Veterinary Technician. She attended Foothill Community College where she received her Associate of Science Degree in Veterinary Technology in 2002. Penelope was born and raised on the Coastside and resides on the coast with her husband, Corey. Penelope enjoys spending time with her horses and her border collie, Mia. She participates in barrel racing and enjoys attending competitions as often as possible. Penelope grew up with large and small animals and has worked for small animal vet hosppitals since 1999. She enjoys what she does and loves being able to work with animals.
